Striving to do better, achieve better and aim high
Tanya Fitzgerald, Business Manager at Rigsafe Lifting Solutions, is rightly proud of the company culture she and her husband, Kevin Fitzgerald, have built over the past eight years at Rigsafe.
“Our Rigsafe Way values and what we call ‘living above the line’ behaviours are something we are both proud of.”
“Most of the staff have never experienced this level of guidance before, and their six-monthly performance meetings are something they have really backed.”
“We catch up with every employee to talk through their future goals and how we can support them to achieve them; we pay for the training they need, and in turn, we have an amazing group of core employees who have been with us nearly from the start.”
Kevin launched Rigsafe in 2015, using his experience as a boilermaker, rigger, and crane operator to tap into Australia’s lifting and rigging market. Alongside Tanya, an HR professional, Rigsafe commits to achieving a new business goal every year, from buying their first crane to this year winning the Master Builders WA Subcontractor of the year award.
“We always strive to do better, achieve better, aim high.
“We have grown an inclusive team environment where our motto is ‘we win together and we f*** up together’ – you will never see us berating teammates, only supporting them to be their best.”
Outgrowing our premises and securing a new home for Rigsafe
Such was the success of this approach that it became apparent two years ago that the company had outgrown its initial premises.
Enter Ledge Finance, who were on hand to assist Tanya and Kevin as they searched for a bigger yard to accommodate their growing fleet and organisation.
“We had been trying every avenue to move, either through renting or buying, but everything was getting snapped up before it hit the market.’ said Tanya.
“Finally, we were able to buy a 10,000-square-meter yard in High Wycombe, and through Brad and Tony at Ledge, we had the smoothest experience considering it was such a large purchase. Their advice and expertise were exceptional, and they helped us achieve the next growth phase of Rigsafe.”
A new year and further growth opportunities
With a new year on the horizon, Rigsafe is well-positioned to capitalise on the capacity offered by the new yard and its established focus on creating a positive work culture, resulting in employees staying for the long haul.
“2024 is shaping to be a huge growth phase for Rigsafe, moving into a new yard that will house all our fleet of equipment, facilitate fabrication and enable us to hire additional resources,” said Tanya.
“We secured ISO certification this year, which means we will start mobilising regional works. It also helps us gain an advantage in the Perth market with many projects beginning in 2024, ensuring we are well-placed to keep Rigsafe pumping.”
